Reviews of Barntucket
Visiting Nantucket always feels like a delicious escape. Staying in Barntucket takes that feeling to the max. Working like crazy with two young girls we seek a good balance of relaxation and fun. From the moment you walk in the door until you hit the comfy beds at night, this place is Zen. It’s loaded with everything you need to be cozy, to cook great meals, to lounge outside or relax on the porch, to walk or ride bikes (highly recommended) to the beach or down town. The girls (6 and 10) love everything about the house – the climbing tree out back, the hide and seek possibilities, the huge farmer’s table that’s as perfect for crafts and games as it is for gathering a group for dinner. Bill is the perfect host with great advice on island activities, wine and cooking. The landscaping and gardening is a passion of his making it one of the most charming properties on the island. We just can’t say enough about how much we enjoy our annual visit. As soon as we’re home to NH, we talk about the next trip! See you next year, Bill!

Barntucket is one of our favorite spots to vacation! Our family always wants to come back to this home. This charming historic home is quite spacious with plenty of rooms to accommodate a large family. The kitchen is fully stocked with plenty of dishes, utensils and cooking vessels as well as many gadgets for any cook. Not to mention the outdoor patio with large grill. It is located within walking distance to Town, Steps Beach, and bike paths. We love this home and would definitely come back!

Barntucket has the ambiance and charm of “Old World Nantucket.” You feel like your own little oasis with the back porch, and wonderful backyard. The house has so much warmth and charm, that you feel like it is your own summer cottage. There are very few places I visit, that I feel like the welcome mat is always extended. Barntucket is one of those places that hold such familiarity. I can’t wait to return.

Barntucket has become our extended family home each summer. We love coming back year after year to this beautiful place. The location is ideal with walking distance to town, the beach, and biking trails. The home is inviting and fits the needs of our family with a wonderful gourmet kitchen, multiple sitting areas and lovely landscaping. Nantucket is magical and Barntucket is the perfect place to create life long memories!
I booked into Barntucket week of 6-19-17 -6/24–17 for another wonderful stay for my family. This is the 17th time to return to Nantucket and staying at Barntucket. There is no better rental for me and the owner Bill has become a family member and is the most gracious host you could want in a rental. My home away from home.

Our extended family has been coming to Nantucket for decades and staying at Barntucket. It’s the funkiest, greatest old carriage barn we have ever seen/experienced ! As young kids we would often play ‘hide and seek’ and crawl into all the nooks and crannies throughout. Barntucket is very close to the Nantucket Sound beaches and down town. We now have grand children and They too enjoy the Nantucket lifestyle. See you next year.

Our group went to Nantucket for a 60th birthday party! We stayed at Barntucket!! What a delightful home!! All the woodwork, the antiques and the fireplaces are gorgeous! And in the evening it just glows!! It looks just like the pictures! In addition, Bill is a dream to work with and the location is close enough to town to walk or bike yet far enough away to be very very peaceful. We will most definitely be back at Barntucket again! Thanks Bill!
We had an amazing experience staying at Barntucket. Everything was just as described and more. There was plenty of room for our group and everything was very clean for our arrival. Bill was a great host. We will definitely stay at Barntucket again!
What a truly magnificent home and host. I would stay there again without a doubt. Thank you!
My multiple generation family of 8 stayed in Barntucket all of July. It was a charming, well stocked house, with a great assortment of bed room options! My handicapped mother stayed in the en suite king bedroom on the first floor and we rented a ramp for her wheelchair to go up the two steps to get into the house at the front door. That worked perfectly ! Our grand daughter slept in a rented crib, but the house had a high chair for a baby. The upstairs kitchen was an asset for the baby feedings… The outside shower is divine! The washer and dryer were convenient! There is a lovely area on the side of the house near the kitchen for meals and quiet reading in lounge chairs. We had a brand new fabulous grill ! We were supplied with plenty of towels ,sheets, beach chairs and a beach umbrella. The location is perfect. It is less than a mile from the center of town, but there is plenty of available parking on the side streets if if you need spaces for more an two cars. It is a short walk from Steps Beach in a lovely upper Cliff Road neighborhood . We loved it and would stay there again!
After two decades of vacationing with our three children on Nantucket, we discovered Barntucket two years ago. The children are grown now, married and we have grandchildren. Our summer Family Camp at this beautiful, large and comfortable home has been a pleasure for all. We walk to town, to the beach, and on evenings we don’t go out to dinner we grill on the patio and gather at the big dining table. Unlike the utilitarian, impersonally furnished rentals you often see online, Barntucket is entirely home-like, full of family photos and tastefully decorated in classic traditional style. Every serving and implement need is met in the kitchen and dining room where an enormous sideboard and hutch has les a display of blue and white (and functional) china. The second floor is a fully-equipped apartment with bedrooms, bath, kitchen and sittings and dining areas. Like the rest of the house, the interior architecture is beautiful. This place is a bit of heaven on earth!

The Inn-Keeper goes out of his way to make your stay very special. from the minute you walk in the property you can feel the pride of ownership. easy, enjoyable 12-15 minute walk to downtown and the harbor. Spacious home, beautifully appointed. The second floor apartment offers so many options as there is a second kitchen upstairs as well, and a full bath too. The main kitchen had every imaginable cooking utensil, all top quality. Nice private back patio with 2 upscale grills.
Our entire stay was perfection, even the foul weather couldn’t dampen our spirit and good times.
I would love to keep this beautiful place my secret, but as a frequent traveler, I just had to share the experience, and recognize the Inn-Keeper for caring so much that we had a great time, and maintaining such a magnificent property.
If you have a chance to stay at Barntucket, believe me you will not be disappointed.

We had the pleasure of staying at Barntucket at the end of September, 2016 for a long weekend. Our stay was absolutely perfect in every respect. The property was quintessential Nantucket and beautifully decorated. It is not your typical rental property and has every convenience you would find in your own home. The property is spacious, immaculate and well stocked. Bill, the owner, was extremely helpful and clearly wanted us to be happy guests — and we certainly were! We look forward to a return visit to Barntucket and we highly recommend it. Thank you Bill!
Barntucket is a beautifully converted carriage house and barn that maintains the original detail yet has all the conveniences of a modern home. The house was impeccably clean when we entered. The kitchen is very well stocked with high end appliances, dishes and pots & pans. We made quite a few gourmet meals without wanting for any device or appliance (Vita-Mix blender, Kitchen-Aid stand mixer, etc). In fact, we were prepared to eat out more but once we saw the kitchen, it was so much fun cooking and relaxing on the patio, that we did it a lot. The bedrooms are large and clean with ample closet and drawer storage. The bathrooms are large and clean and our friends all enjoyed the showers. I personally only used the outdoor shower which has ample hot water and very good water pressure. The living area has plenty of seating to easily accommodate a group of 10 without feeling cramped. The beds were all comfortable and all linens and beach towels were provided and hotel quality. The WiFi was fast and never had an issue, even with multiple devices connected.
The house has a perfect layout for 2 families to rent or a family with kids who want their own space. The upstairs has it’s own sitting area with television, 2 bedrooms and a kitchen that was very useful when we needed a refrigerator for drinks and an extra stovetop or oven. (Although there are already 2 ovens and a 5 burner stovetop in the main kitchen).
It is a very short walk into town yet away from the chaos that can be right downtown. Our children (8 & 10) were with us and had no complaints about the walk, even doing it multiple times a day. Something Natural is just around the corner if you need a quick bite to eat and do not feel like walking all the way to town or if you want to pick up sandwiches for the beach.
The owner was very knowledgable about the island and gave great suggestions on beaches, restaurants and what to do with the kids. He has also left a collection of menus and pamphlets for just about everything on Nantucket. His customer service was very good. He responded to e-mailed questions very quickly.
I am looking forward to returning to Barntucket and recommend it highly.
