Our family of ten, ranging from a one year old to seventy-two years young had a delightful vacation on Nantucket. Our “home away from home”, Barntucket was everything I hoped it would be, and more! Three generations and three cooks under one roof can be a challenging situation- I think because of the vastness of the space of Barntucket and the gourmet kitchen we just delighted in each others company! Barntucket is a cozy home in spite of its size.
It is always my goal when choosing a vacation home to have a spot we can gather comfortably for meals. Morning and night we enjoyed our meals at that wonderful dining room table, we celebrated three birthdays, all the more special, because of where we were. Depending on the evening temperatures we played games on the screened porch or around the table, we loved all the games and puzzles tucked away in the old drawers and cupboards.
Although we have visited Nantucket many times over the years we have never had a family gathering in town. The location of Barntucket is PRIME for walking to town and enjoying all the beaches along Cliff Road and going to Something Natural on a whim.
I think the last weeks in June is a fabulous time on Nantucket. We had plenty of beach days, the island is not overly crowded and does not have “tired” feeling I have noticed on late summer visits.
As grandmother myself, I live by my own grandmother’s adage, “Why would I go anywhere that is not as nice or nicer than home?” I found my spot, Barntucket.
