Barntucket was the perfect Nantucket rental for us. The house is large enough to accommodate 10 family members and friends with plenty of space. Our teenage kids had their own getaway on the 2nd floor with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and their own kitchen and living area. It was the perfect layout for our family and had every amenity. We were all impressed with how well-kept and well-appointed the home was! Staying at the Barntucket was a wonderful experience and we look forward to returning to this beautiful home soon!

We have been enjoying the Barntucket experience almost every year for the past 8 years. My husband lovingly calls it “forced relaxation.” Frankly it’s like coming home. We are greeted like family. The grandchildren affectionately call the owner of Barntucket, “Mr. Bill.” From the moment you walk in the door and navigate through every room in this splendid, historical, home, you feel the ambiance that captures the heart of Nantucket. On a scale from 1 to 10….. positively a 10!

After staying in Wauwinet for many years, we decided to rent a place close to town. Barntucket was a perfect choice!! The house is huge, beautiful and comfortable…easily accommodating our large family. We’ll always remember gathering around the large dining room table for meals prepared in the gourmet kitchen. We were able to walk or bike to town and beaches…and very infrequently used our cars. The owner was extremely helpful, advising us regarding restaurants, shopping and local events. We stayed two weeks….and wished we could have stayed two more!

My family and I highly recommend Barntucket! We return every chance we get, because of the welcome hospitality, lovely home and garden, and the best location! Walking distance into town, and to beautiful beaches. The house is very comfortable and perfect for a large family. Charming and relaxing atmosphere. Barntucket is a magical place!

Barntucket is the most comfortable home. Yes it is full of the history of the island, beautifully laid out and decorated, but more, it is a welcoming house which absorbs people and invites relaxation and good conversation. There were 10 family members from all over the country staying in the house and eight others coming and going before and after my son’s wedding. One night there were 14 of us seated around the dining room table for dinner—all talking at once and having a blast. With the living areas on two floors there is plenty of space for puzzles, game playing or escaping to read. There is every possible amenity one could want and two kitchens when everyone wants breakfast in the morning. Among our group were knee and hip replacements and a wheelchair user. The owner offered to make some modifications to the entry ways to ensure the house was accessible, which made all the difference to us—He is definitely not your usual landlord and we are grateful to him for making our stay close to perfect.

I travel about 200,000 miles a year and stay at properties all over the world. I am a very tough critic. Barntucket is something VERY special. The house, the location, and architecture are perfect in every way. This property is everything that Nantucket stands for. History, natural beauty, comfort and charm. It has it all. Bill – the owner – was a pleasure to deal with – and may (no BS here) just be the nicest, warmest and coolest guy I have ever met. He has thought of everything you could imagine to make your stay something you will never forget. HIGHLY Recommended.

We arrived and had a magical stay at Barntucket! It was a girls trip, friends for 50 years and a special birthday. Bill the host/owner is available for any questions about the island that you could ever need to know. All of this home “Barntucket” is perfection. You will feel as if you were at home. Furnishings are all comfortable and charming….a real piece of old Nantucket. The best gourmet chef could cook in this kitchen …..Bill has thought of “every detail”—-music, beach towels, umbrellas, everything. A lovely garden awaits your exit from the kitchen for relaxing or grilling or just quiet peace. This is one trip that we were all sad to say good bye. We’ve rented in Nantucket for years and this is by far my favorite rental. It’s not just a house, it’s a home. This house has the perfect mixture of antiquity and modernity. It is a pleasant and quick walk to town. All of the makings of a joyful family home. The backyard is perfect for summer evenings. I would stay here again in a heart beat, and cannot wait until our next visit.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful family reunion @ Barntucket over Columbus Day weekend. My family and I rented Barntucket for a wedding weekend, we were about 6 people altogether. We could not have been happier with our decision. Everything was in pristine order and the proprietor has clearly put in a lot of effort to keep this property looking great with all the modern amenities, while maintaining all of the details and quality of a 200 year old home. With a working fireplace, excellent kitchen, beautifully maintained grounds, and comfortable bedrooms, this space is so warm and inviting. The pictures honestly do not do justice to the quintessential Nantucket experience we had while staying here. Just the thing we were looking for! This would be such a great place for a family reunion or family holiday gathering. We will definitely look to rent this place again!

We stayed three nights in Barntucket and had a great time. The charm of the place is its old-world feel, rustic appearance but fully modern appointments, and especially the great kitchen. My “gourmet chef” grade brother-in-law found everything needed to showcase his talents. Having family and friends lounging in front of a fire, sipping wine while your friend prepares epicurean treats is definitely the way to go. You just cannot replicate the environment with a bed-breakfast or hotel, no matter how inviting. Barntucket is a short walk from downtown Nantucket, so everyone has freedom of individual exploration, while serving as the rallying point for social fun. You will be comfortable while bonding, with plenty of room for slipping away when needed. I highly recommend Barntucket for that unique island experience.

Our family rented Barntucket for the week of our daughters wedding. The layout is fantastic to accommodate a large family. The kitchen has all you need and the towels are white fluffy. The decor is rich with history and antiquity; Yet it is comfortable and welcoming. The dining table is the best for entertaining and when you have a wedding you are entertaining guest coming to the island before hand. It has it all and it’s close to town. The backdrop for pictures for the before wedding shots are award winning. You will not be disappointed.

I have been renting houses on Nantucket for 15+ years now and Barntucket has become one of my favorite houses. My friends and I had the privilege of staying at Barntucket for 4 nights over Labor Day weekend. Barntucket is an absolutely beautiful antique house in a wonderful area of Nantucket – close to town and to Steps Beach. The house is super clean with a gourmet kitchen providing all the necessary cooking utensils to cook up some wonderful meals and enjoy around the large dining room table. Bedrooms were all uniquely decorated and comfortable. It has a cute little patio with a table and umbrella where we enjoyed our morning coffee or our happy hour with cheese/crackers and vino. The house is large and spacious with plenty of bathrooms for large families with plenty of privacy. One of my favorite rooms was the sun-porch in the back where I would cuddle up with a good book and relax. Now…that is what vacation is all about, right? You won’t be disappointed with your stay at Barntucket. I am already looking forward to next summer and hope to stay longer.

My family and I spent the week at Barntucket and couldn’t have had a better time! Bill was super friendly, responsive and accommodating. The house looks just as great in person as it does in pictures and is super clean. I also did a fair amount of research and found Bill’s prices to be less than the rest.
