After two decades of vacationing with our three children on Nantucket, we discovered Barntucket two years ago. The children are grown now, married and we have grandchildren. Our summer Family Camp at this beautiful, large and comfortable home has been a pleasure for all. We walk to town, to the beach, and on evenings we don’t go out to dinner we grill on the patio and gather at the big dining table. Unlike the utilitarian, impersonally furnished rentals you often see online, Barntucket is entirely home-like, full of family photos and tastefully decorated in classic traditional style. Every serving and implement need is met in the kitchen and dining room where an enormous sideboard and hutch has les a display of blue and white (and functional) china. The second floor is a fully-equipped apartment with bedrooms, bath, kitchen and sittings and dining areas. Like the rest of the house, the interior architecture is beautiful. This place is a bit of heaven on earth!

The Inn-Keeper goes out of his way to make your stay very special. from the minute you walk in the property you can feel the pride of ownership. easy, enjoyable 12-15 minute walk to downtown and the harbor. Spacious home, beautifully appointed. The second floor apartment offers so many options as there is a second kitchen upstairs as well, and a full bath too. The main kitchen had every imaginable cooking utensil, all top quality. Nice private back patio with 2 upscale grills.
Our entire stay was perfection, even the foul weather couldn’t dampen our spirit and good times.
I would love to keep this beautiful place my secret, but as a frequent traveler, I just had to share the experience, and recognize the Inn-Keeper for caring so much that we had a great time, and maintaining such a magnificent property.
If you have a chance to stay at Barntucket, believe me you will not be disappointed.

We had the pleasure of staying at Barntucket at the end of September, 2016 for a long weekend. Our stay was absolutely perfect in every respect. The property was quintessential Nantucket and beautifully decorated. It is not your typical rental property and has every convenience you would find in your own home. The property is spacious, immaculate and well stocked. We look forward to a return visit to Barntucket and we highly recommend it.

Barntucket is a beautifully converted carriage house and barn that maintains the original detail yet has all the conveniences of a modern home. The house was impeccably clean when we entered. The kitchen is very well stocked with high end appliances, dishes and pots & pans. We made quite a few gourmet meals without wanting for any device or appliance (Vita-Mix blender, Kitchen-Aid stand mixer, etc). In fact, we were prepared to eat out more but once we saw the kitchen, it was so much fun cooking and relaxing on the patio, that we did it a lot. The bedrooms are large and clean with ample closet and drawer storage. The bathrooms are large and clean and our friends all enjoyed the showers. I personally only used the outdoor shower which has ample hot water and very good water pressure. The living area has plenty of seating to easily accommodate a group of 10 without feeling cramped. The beds were all comfortable and all linens and beach towels were provided and hotel quality. The WiFi was fast and never had an issue, even with multiple devices connected.
The house has a perfect layout for 2 families to rent or a family with kids who want their own space. The upstairs has it’s own sitting area with television, 2 bedrooms and a kitchen that was very useful when we needed a refrigerator for drinks and an extra stovetop or oven. (Although there are already 2 ovens and a 5 burner stovetop in the main kitchen).
It is a very short walk into town yet away from the chaos that can be right downtown. Our children (8 & 10) were with us and had no complaints about the walk, even doing it multiple times a day. Something Natural is just around the corner if you need a quick bite to eat and do not feel like walking all the way to town or if you want to pick up sandwiches for the beach.
The owner was very knowledgable about the island and gave great suggestions on beaches, restaurants and what to do with the kids. He has also left a collection of menus and pamphlets for just about everything on Nantucket. His customer service was very good. He responded to e-mailed questions very quickly.
I am looking forward to returning to Barntucket and recommend it highly.

A very special spot. Charming and great location for our group of ten. Barntucket isn’t in the center of the busy commercial area… a blessing… but close enough to make it very interesting. Quite close to the beaches. Everything was easy and fun.

We just enjoyed another wonderful week at Barntuckcet. This was our tenth year staying at this beautifully inviting location. Barntuckcet has all the amenities anyone could ask for. It is truly just like a home away from home. Centrally located, it is extremely easy to get anywhere on the island in a relatively short period of time. Whether we spent a full day at the beach, or shopping and just driving around the island, Barntuckcet was a welcome haven after a long fun day. Relaxation personified!

What an extraordinary home! Just look at the pictures: rich wood interiors, comfortable furniture of excellent quality and classic style, thoughtfully designed gathering, dining and sleeping spaces (including a charming, eaves-embraced second floor 2-bedroom “apartment” complete with bath, kitchen, dining area and sitting room) and framed family photos in abundance. Did we accidentally stumble into someone’s treasured family summer retreat? It certainly seemed so. Each day brought a stroll to the beach or into town (we rarely used the cars except to go grocery shopping). We ate out occasionally but more evenings found us gathered at the long wood table for an intimate dinner. We cooked by turns, lounged on the patio, took walks, shopped, swam, read our books (or Bill’s), and did a lot of contented sighing. “Same time next year?” got a unanimous and exuberant “yes!”

My introduction to Barntucket occurred 16 years ago with a family vacation, and we have returned every year for our Nantucket fix.
The property is well maintained, exceptionally decorated with a gourmet style equipped kitchen. In my years of travel, it is very rare to find a rental with all the amenities that Barntucket has to offer. This is the perfect home to entertain and has the charm that provides a perfect evening.
We are like a rubber band we always come back!

This is the ideal spot for a vacation. beautifully maintained home just outside town on a very quiet street. The kitchen is the home chef’s dream, and there is both a gas and charcoal grill available. Its an easy 15 minute walk to town and the great dining and shopping. The extra bedrooms and bathroom upstairs made it perfect for our “working weekend.” I will be back for certain.

Going to Nantucket is an adventure in itself which sometimes involves planes, trains, automobiles and boats. It is a perfect place to commune with nature, to see breathtaking views complete with starry skies, and to relax. And in the heart of this lovely place – the historic heart at that – you will find Barntucket. A 200 year young house that invites imagination and stories.
We went to Barntucket for a women’s birthday celebration/retreat and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Bill is a completely wonderful host who was willing to help us with suggestions of where to dine and how to enjoy the island. The house has all the amenities you need to make your stay comfortable including lots of fluffy white towels and a fully equipped kitchen. From Barntucket’s central location you can bike and walk to beaches, shops and restaurants.
I can’t say enough about it and can’t wait to go back with my family or to renew our women’s retreat annually.

We came for a girls long weekend to celebrate one of our 50th birthdays. I can’t say enough about our stay at Barntucket. Very comfortable with rich history and elegance. Bill the owner has thought of everything to ensure an amazing stay. We walked, biked, practiced yoga (even aerial yoga), watched the sunrise and sunset, ate, laughed, danced, enjoyed wonderful wine (Thanks Bill:)) and shopped. Nantucket is a slice of heaven and staying at Barntucket made completed the experience. Would highly recommend!!!

“Barntucket” is by far one of the most charming places we have ever stayed ! We rented it with family and friends for my daughter’s wedding for five days. Unfortunately, we were there for the 5 day nor’easter and the anticipated hurricane “Joaquin” ! But we couldn’t have picked a cozier and more welcoming property to hunker down in! The fireplace was a nice touch to help take the chill off ! The historical appointments and antiques with the Nantucket ambiance permeate the whole house creating such charm ! Each time we looked our eye would catch another artifact of interest.
The upstairs apartment was so spacious and perfect for friends that joined us. The entire home is well equipped with all needs being met from kitchen to bath. Comfortable beds, fluffy towels and lovely sheets await. And your meals can be enjoyed on the beautiful blue-and-white English Spode while seated at the amazing dining room table !
Once the wind and rain held off, our guests were able to make the 15 minute walk into town. This property is located in a lovely neighborhood adjacent to Cliff Road.
One of the aspects we enjoyed the most was meeting our landlord, Bill. We loved hearing about the history of this unique property and he could not have been more helpful.
If I was able, I would rate this property a 10 ! Look no further and treat yourself to a unique Nantucket experience ! Thank you, Bill ! I hope our paths cross again and we can get back to Barntucket to enjoy the lovely patio and grounds and the welcoming porch !

We loved Barntucket. We were in Nantucket for a wedding and wanted a house that could hold our entire family. Barntucket was great because the upstairs is like a seperate apt. So my sons family could spread out a bit . The three bedrooms on the first floor were great for my other 2 children and master suite was very roomie. Loved the big dining room. The best part about this house is the ability to walk to town in 10 minutes. Everyone could be on their own schedule. This house is great for a family get together. We would rent it again .

My husband and I stayed at Barntucket with another couple at the end of the summer. Immediately we received a warm welcome from Bill, the landlord. We all felt right at home. Barntucket is a gorgeous, charming, special place with so much history. It is a place to relax and to share wonderful moments and memories with friends and family. Whether you are eating lunch on the patio, enjoying dinner at the beautiful, large dining table, playing games in the family room, or relaxing on the enclosed porch, Barntucket takes you away to a magical, peaceful place. Barntucket is also close to shops, restaurants and beaches. You can walk there.
